Description

What is VERMOX and what is it used for?

VERMOX is a broad-spectrum anthelmintic for the treatment of roundworms and tapeworms.

It is used for pinworm infestation (enterobiasis or oxyuriasis), roundworm infestation (ascariasis), whipworm infestation (trichuriasis), hookworm infestation (ankylostomiasis), tapeworm infestation (taeniasis), dwarf threadworm infestation (strongyloidiasis).

Dosage and administration:
1. Oxyurosis (Enterobius vermicularis infestation):
Adults and children.
5 ml of drinkable suspension.
Given that the life cycle of the parasite responsible for pinworm infection is very short, the risk of reinfestation is very high, especially in closed communities. It is therefore advisable to repeat the treatment after 2 to 4 weeks.
2. Ascariasis, trichuriasis, hookworm and mixed infestations:
Adults and children.
5 ml of oral suspension in the morning and evening, for three days.
3. Taeniasis and strongyloidiasis:
10 to 15 ml of oral suspension in the morning and evening, for three days. Even at this high dosage, side effects are rare.
5 ml of oral suspension in the morning and evening, for three days.
Vermox treatment does not require any special diet or the use of laxatives.
Well-documented experience with Vermox in children under 2 years of age is very limited. Vermox should not be given to children under 2 years of age, as there are rare cases of convulsions in this age group. Vermox should only be given to very young children if the worm infestation clearly affects the child’s nutritional status and physical development.
