Description

The drainage foam Mepilex ® Transfer is used as the primary wound contact layer. The structure channels exudate away from the wound and allows the fluid to drain into an absorbent secondary dressing. This dressing combination maintains a moist wound environment. Our Mepilex Transfer wound dressing is soft, thin and highly conformable. This allows the dressing to stay in contact with the wound surface and the surrounding skin, even in areas that are difficult to dress. The dressing lies softly on the skin without sticking to the moist wound – thanks to Safetac ®, the original contact layer with silicone adhesion that minimises pain. You can remove it easily without damaging the skin. This makes dressing changes less painful for your patients. The wound edges are also sealed to protect the skin from damaging leaks and maceration.

  • Minimises pain during dressing changes
  • Practical and adaptable for wounds that are difficult to treat
  • You can cut it to fit a wide variety of wound shapes
  • Diverts exudate away from the wound, minimising the risk of maceration
  • Promotes patient comfort – thin and comfortable to wear

Applications of Mepilex Transfer

Mepilex Transfer has been developed for wounds that are light to very heavily exuding and difficult to treat. The dressing can also be used alone as a protective layer on non-exuding wounds and/or large areas of fragile skin. In combination with a secondary dressing, Mepilex Transfer drains exudate from the wound and allows it to drain into the secondary dressing e.g. a compress such as Mextra ® Superabsorbent. Mepilex Transfer can remain on the wound for several days, so that only the secondary dressing needs to be changed.

Fields of application:

  • Chronic wounds such as leg ulcers or gaiter ulcers
  • Tumour walls, exuding tumours
  • Burns up to grade 2a
  • Epidermolysis Bullosa
  • Radiation-induced skin damage
