Children over 5 years of age

Carbocisteine 100 mg per 5 ml.

List of excipients:

  • Methylparahydroxybenzoate
  • Vanillin
  • Sucrose
  • Raspberry flavour
  • Cherry flavour
  • Cochineal red A (E 124)
  • Sodium hydroxide
  • Purified water.

Carbocistein has experimental mucoregulating properties on pathological viscous secretions, which appear in the event of disorders of the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract:

  • Activation of sialyltransferase, with an increase in mucus sialomucin levels and restoration of a normal secretory profile.
  • Increase in secretory IgA levels.
  • Restoration of SH groups in the bronchial mucosa.

Clinically, carbocisteine has an in-vivo mucolytic effect, confirmed by :

  • improvement in the rheological qualities of respiratory mucus (viscosity, elasticity, filance),
  • normalisation of mucociliary transport through action on mucus and mucosa,
  • reducing airway resistance,

These properties make carbocistein a mucoprotector for the respiratory tract:

  • protection of the ciliated epithelium,
  • reduction in mucociliary hyperplasia.

Carbocistein also promotes the penetration of certain antibiotics into the secretions of the respiratory mucosa (amoxicillin, bacampicillin, a combination of cefuroxim, mezlocillin, ampicillin and cefotaxin).

Carbocistein improves the mobility of pathological secretions, making expectoration easier and clearing the airways.
