Description
Paracetamol-ratiopharm® is an analgesic and antipyretic medicine.
Paracetamol-ratiopharm® is used in the following cases
Mild to moderately severe pain, fever
The tablets are suitable for use in adults and adolescents aged 16 and over (over 50 kg).
Paracetamol-ratiopharm® must not be used
if you are allergic to paracetamol, propacetamol or any of the other ingredients of this medicine listed in section 6.
Warnings and precautions
Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Paracetamol-ratiopharm®,
- if you are a chronic alcoholic
- if you have impaired liver function (hepatitis, Gilbert’s syndrome)
- if you have impaired kidney function
- if you suffer from a lack of water
- if you suffer from chronic malnutrition
- if you have blood poisoning
- if you have had an asthma attack from acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin) in the past
- You have glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency (an enzyme defect)
- if you have haemolytic anaemia (abnormal loss of red blood cells).
Only use Paracetamol-ratiopharm® as prescribed by a doctor if you have alcohol problems or a damaged liver. The dose must be reduced in such patients.
How should Paracetamol-ratiopharm® be taken?
Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
Paracetamol-ratiopharm® is dosed according to body weight (bw) and age, usually 10 to 15 mg/kg bw as a single dose, up to a maximum of 60 mg/kg bw – but not more than 3,000 mg paracetamol as a total daily dose.
The dose interval should not be less than 6 hours; this means a maximum of 4 intakes per day. Be careful not to exceed the maximum daily dose.
If pain persists for more than 5 days, or if fever persists or worsens for more than 3 days, or if other symptoms occur, a doctor should be consulted.
