Description
Intended to enhance the appearance of scars. Patient trials have medically established that CICA-CARE is effective in smoothing, softening and discolouring red and prominent scars, both new and old, in 90% of cases.
Easy to use
The CICA-CARE adhesive gel plate is soft, comfortable and easy to apply. It can be custom trimmed to fit most scars. Durable and reusable, it can be worn night and day.
Self-adhesive
The side of the CICA-CARE in contact with the skin is self-adhesive, while its surface layer is made of a non-adhesive silicone protector. Since any secondary fixation is superfluous, the product is easy to use and promotes patient compliance.
Sustainable
Its silicone membrane makes CICA-CARE a durable dressing that is less prone to disintegration than other silicone gel plates.
Adaptable to shapes
The CICA-CARE dressing is a silicone gel plate that fits very well. Because it is self-adhesive, the CICA-CARE bandage can be used on almost any part of the body, even the earlobe and sternum.
Reusable
The CICA-CARE dressing is easy to wash and reusable. Once it becomes difficult to clean, usually after 28 days, it is replaced with a new piece.
Cost-effective
The CICA-CARE dressing is durable and reusable. Its lifespan of up to 28 days makes it cost-effective.
CICA-CARE is indicated in :
the management of hypertrophic and keloid scars (red and prominent), recent or old;
prevention of hypertrophic and keloid (red and prominent) scars on closed wounds. CICA-CARE dressing is contraindicated in patients with aggravating medical factors that would prevent them from using the dressing correctly or with dermatological problems that affect the skin integrity of the areas covered. Avoid use on open or infected wounds and acne-prone skin.
Carefully follow the instructions for use.
Do not use it if the skin around the scar or closed wound is abnormal. Avoid using ointments or creams under the gel plate. Urticaria on the scar and around the skin has been reported in some patients. In this case, reduce the wearing time of the CICA-CARE to 12 hours per day, alternating. If hives persist, discontinue use and consult a doctor or other health care professional.
On surgical incisions, avoid using the CICA-CARE before the stitches have been removed.
Step 1:
Wash hands before and after use. Gently cleanse the scar and the skin around it with mild soap and rinse with clean, lukewarm water. Dry the scar and the surrounding skin well.
Remove the gel plate from its container.
Step 2:
Cut out the gel plate to fit the scar, with a margin protruding over the skin’s perimeter.
Remove the printed plastic sheet.
Step 3:
Apply the gel plate, adhesive side towards the scar, without stretching it. If necessary, use a light bandage to hold the CICA-CARE dressing in place.
For the first two days, use the CICA-CARE for only 4 hours a day.
On the following two days, wear the CICA-CARE 8 hours a day.
Increase the application time by 2 hours per day to at least 12 hours per day. If possible, wear the CICA-CARE 24 hours a day.
Step 4:
Wash the CICA-CARE, the scar and the skin around it at least once a day with mild soap and clean lukewarm water.
Wipe with a towel.
Step 5:
When the CICA-CARE dressing begins to wear out or becomes difficult to clean (usually after 14 to 28 days), it should be replaced. Used correctly, the plates give visible results after 2 to 4 months.
