Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) is a fat-soluble vitamin-like substance produced by the body. It is found in the mitochondria of almost every cell (> ubiquitous, meaning 'everywhere') and is highly concentrated in the organs that require the most energy, such as the heart, liver, muscles and kidneys. CoQ10 is an essential element in the transformation of food into cellular energy. It acts as an electron receiver or emitter in energy metabolism. There are two forms of CoQ10:
