Detection of peripheral neuropathies with SUDOSCAN
At Pharmacie Gillain, we do everything we can to offer you cutting-edge services. Brand new to us is the SUDOSCAN consultation. This is a highly specialized device that evaluates the sudoral function. The procedure is reliable, fast (3 minutes) and painless.
Technology
Impeto Medical has developed a patented technology that allows to evaluate the sweat function quickly and non-invasively. The results are a conductance, which expresses the health of the small nerve fibers that innervate the sweat glands. The ease of use, quantitative, reproducible and sensitive results encourage its use to detect and monitor the evolution of small fiber neuropathy (autonomic peripheral neuropathy).
These neuropathies can be present in patients with prediabetes or diabetes. This method allows the very early detection of this complication of diabetes, which is generally poorly monitored. The introduction of specific medical care for neuropathies at an early stage, when they are still reversible, could prevent the onset of more serious and more costly complications.
Peripheral autonomic neuropathies can also occur in patients with pain, amyloidosis, or receiving chemotherapy treatment.
The process
The patient places his hands and feet on the electrodes.
A low electrical voltage is applied to the surface to stimulate the sweat glands.
The results of the response to this stimulation are expressed as:
Electrochemical Skin Conductance for SUDOSCAN, indicating the presence and severity of small fiber peripheral autonomic neuropathies.
SUDOSCAN Applications
Sweat dysfunction is a common phenomenon and one of the first detectable abnormalities in several peripheral and autonomic neuropathies. Small fiber neuropathies have been tested with SUDOSCAN in different diseases and in comparison with reference diagnostic tests:
– Neurology
– Glucose intolerance
- Diabetes
– Oncology
– Dyslipidemias
– Genetic diseases
– Infectious diseases
– Autoimmune diseases
– Vitamin deficiency
