Composition: dehydrated white bean juice, cellulose, magnesium stearate, croscarmellose sodium.

Properties: slows sugar absorption.

Phaseolus vulgaris (Bean) reduces the absorption of carbohydrates in the intestine and consequently the assimilation of lipids caused by a high glycaemic level after a meal. This effect is mainly due to glycoproteins such as phaseolamine, which has anti-alpha-amylase activity, preventing salivary and pancreatic enzymes from assimilating carbohydrates.

The bean pod has the same effect: its fibres absorb and retain carbohydrates, thereby lowering blood sugar levels. By lowering alpha-amylase through glycoproteins, the assimilation of carbohydrates is reduced, so that blood sugar levels rise less quickly after a meal and the need for insulin is reduced. The same applies to the bean pod, which causes carbohydrates to be absorbed more slowly, so that blood sugar levels rise less after a meal. This prevents the reactive hypoglycaemia that normally occurs after a glycaemic peak.

Finally, beans are mildly diuretic, depurative and laxative.
