Preparation based on glucose and mineral salts (O.R.S.) and Lactobacillus reuteri Protectis. Dietary food for special medical purposes to meet the nutritional needs of infants, children and adults suffering from mild, acute diarrhoea and vomiting.

During diarrhoea and vomiting, the body loses water and a significant amount of salts and nutrients. Protectis O.R.S. is rapidly absorbed by the body, restoring fluid and electrolyte balance in the event of diarrhoea and vomiting, and helping the digestive system to return to equilibrium more quickly. Its efficacy and safety in use have been demonstrated in clinical studies carried out in children and adults.

Protectis O.R.S. makes it easy to obtain an instant preparation. Mix 1 sachet of Protectis O.R.S. (5.5 g) in 250 ml of water. If you have any doubts about the quality of the water, boil it or use bottled water.

The boiled water should be cooled before adding Protectis O.R.S. The Protectis O.R.S. solution can be kept for 6 hours in the refrigerator and 3 hours at room temperature.

Advice:

Protectis O.R.S. can be flavoured with a maximum of ½ teaspoon of concentrated fruit juice per 250 ml serving. Protectis O.R.S. may not be mixed with infant food or other drinks or foods.

Children under 2 years of age:

Day 1:

initial dose of 50 ml/kg for the first 4-8 hours

then 50-100 ml after each diarrhoeal stool

Following days:

if liquid stools persist, 50-100 ml after each diarrhoeal stool

Children aged 2-10 years:

Day 1:

initial dose of 50 ml/kg for the first 4-8 hours

then 100-200 ml after each diarrhoeal stool

Following days:

if liquid stools persist, 100-200 ml after each diarrhoeal stool

Older children and adults:

One sachet (250 ml) after each diarrhoeal stool

Protectis O.R.S. is an oral rehydration therapy enriched with Lactobacillus reuteri Protectis 109 CFU and zinc sulphate 1.5 mg.

Store in a dry place at a temperature not exceeding 25°C.

Keep out of the reach of children.
