Description
Description
Mepitel One is a silicone interface based on unique Safetac technology. Its aerated polyamide weave allows effective vertical drainage of exudates towards an absorbent secondary dressing, making it easier to administer topical treatments. Its single-sided adhesion makes it easier to handle and hold in place, reducing the risk of maceration.
- Its transparency allows immediate assessment of healing progress without having to remove the interface
- Leaves no residue and retains its integrity over the long term Peace of mind when healing: can remain in place for up to 7 days2-8
- Economical.
- Can be used on a wide variety of wounds9-12
- Safetac Technology reduces pain and trauma during dressing changes and prevents lateral exudate leakage
Mepitel One is an interface dressing indicated for the treatment of many exuding wounds such as: painful wounds, skin tears, dermabrasions, surgical wounds, second degree burns, traumatic lesions, phlyctenes, lacerations, total or partial grafts, radiodermatitis, leg or foot ulcers. It can also be used to protect non-exuding wounds or areas of sensitive skin.
Precautions for use:
- In accordance with current clinical practice, the wound should be examined for signs of infection. If clinical signs are found, consult a doctor for appropriate treatment.
- Mepitel One may be used on patients with epidermolysis bullosa on the advice of a qualified healthcare professional.
- When used on second degree burns at high risk of rapid granulation or after facial resurfacing: avoid pressure on the dressing, lift and reposition the dressing at least every two days.
- When used on bleeding wounds or wounds with high viscosity exudate: Mepitel One Dressing should be covered with a moist secondary dressing.
- When used on skin graft fixatins, the Mepitel One dressing should not be changed within 5 days of application.
- Do not reuse. If reused, the product may lose its effectiveness and cross-contamination may occur.
- Sterile. Do not use if bag is damaged or opened prior to use. Do not re-sterilise.
Application
Clean the wound in accordance with current clinical protocols and dry the periwound skin thoroughly
Choose a size of Mepitel One that covers the wound and extends over the periwound skin by at least 2 cm. If necessary, Mepitel One can be cut to size. For larger wounds, the overhang must be greater.
Remove the Protective Sheet using the folded part and apply Mepitel One with the adherent surface to the wound. Smooth Mepitel One over the peri-wound skin to ensure good wound isolation. If several sheets of Mepitel One are required, overlap the dressings, avoiding occlusion of the pores. Minimise overlapping and wrinkling, especially when applied in a circle or wrap, to reduce the risk of stasis zones in the wound and limb.
Renewal
Mepitel One may be left in place for up to 14 days depending on the condition of the wound and periwound skin, or in accordance with current clinical practice (exudate must pass freely through the dressing and pores must not be blocked). If Mepitel One is used in conjunction with the Avance TPN system, the dressing should be changed every 48-72 hours with at least 3 changes per week, or as instructed by the clinician. If Mepitel One is used in conjunction with other NPWT systems, follow the clinician's recommendations for dressing change frequency. In the event of saturation, the secondary absorbent dressing should be changed while Mepitel One remains in place. Mepitel One is a single use dressing.
Mepitel One is made up of
a silicone coating from Safetac Technology on the wound side
a perforated, transparent, flexible and thin polyurethane film
