Maalox Antacid Forte 600/400 Comp 40

Maalox Antacid and Maalox Antacid Forte are medicines based on aluminium hydroxide (hydrated aluminium oxide) and magnesium hydroxide.

Maalox Antacid and Maalox Antacid Forte are indicated for the short-term symptomatic treatment of gastric acidity and gastric pain. This means that you should not use these medicines for more than 14 days without consulting a doctor. It is also important to stop treatment as soon as your symptoms have disappeared.

• Short-term symptomatic treatment of gastric acidity (pyrosis) and gastric pain.

Adults

• 1 to 2 tablets, 4 x a day, 1 hour after meals and at bedtime
• If necessary, an additional dose 2 hours later
• Maximum 10 tablets per day

Method of administration

• The tablets are to be sucked or chewed

1 chewable tablet contains 1200 mg hydrated aluminium oxide (= 600 mg aluminium oxide) and 400 mg magnesium hydroxide.

Maalox Antacid is an antiseptic agent. Its effectiveness results from its ability to neutralise acidity, resulting in an increase in pH within physiological limits, and from its anti-pepsin activity and inactivation of lysolecitin and bile salts by adsorption.

Maalox Antacid does not interfere with a strict de-sodium diet: the maximum amount of sodium (Na+) administered per day is less than 0.04 g.
