ETIXX CARNITINE 1000 90 CPR

During low-intensity endurance exercise, fat is the main source of energy. As intensity increases, the role of glycogen (carbohydrate reserves in the muscles) becomes increasingly important. The more an endurance athlete can use fat as an energy source, the longer it will take before sugar reserves are exhausted. Fats are transported to the mitochondria, the cellular energy centres of the muscles, by means of carnitine.

Carnitine is a non-essential amino acid. It is produced by the body in the liver and kidneys using lysine and methionine, two essential amino acids. Chronic carnitine supplementation has been shown to increase muscle carnitine levels. Increased concentrations of muscle carnitine promote fat burning and glycogen conservation. As a result, more sugars will be available at the end of exercise, boosting performance. During particularly intensive exercise, carnitine helps to reduce the production of lactic acid and the accumulation of lactate. Carnitine also promotes muscle recovery after strength training.

It is also well known that taking carnitine supplements helps to prevent an increase in body fat when combined with a daily carbohydrate-rich snack.

Carnitine is mainly obtained from foods of animal origin (around 100 to 300mg/day): (red) meat, dairy products, eggs and fish. This is also why vegetarians absorb less carnitine than omnivores and could certainly benefit from carnitine supplements.

The vitamin B6 contained in CARNITINE 1000 helps to normalise energy metabolism, which is particularly important during training/sport performance.

Who can benefit from Carnitine 1000?

Carnitine has a favourable effect on endurance athletes who undergo low and medium intensity training (running, cycling, triathlon, etc.). Carnitine consumption can also be useful for improving muscle recovery after strength training.
