Lijnzaadolie ist ein bijzonder vetzuursupplement. Er enthält Linolzuur (ein Omega-6-Vollwertstoff) und Alfalinoleenzuur (ein Omega-3-Vollwertstoff). De hoge concentratie plantaardige lignanen en fytochemische elementen aanwezig in lijnzaad draagt bij tot de eigenschappen van deze olie. Lijnzaadolie bevat veel meer plantaardige lignanen dan de olie uit andere zaden zoals tarwe, rogge, gierst, boekweit, sojabonen en haver.
