Properties
Pharmacodynamic properties:
– Lespedeza capitata: this plant extract is azoturic and mild diuretic and does not alter the ionic balance.

– Artichoke: the leaf extract is diuretic and choleretic. The 1,5-dicaffeylquinic acid is responsible for an increase in bile flow and induces hepatoprotection against toxins (ethanol, carbon tetrachloride, a-amanitine…). Artichoke extracts cause a modification of lipid metabolism (antiatherogenic effect) with a decrease in triglycerides and about 10 to 12% of the total cholesterol level. Finally, all the substances (flavonoids in particular) have an antioxidant power that has been demonstrated on hepatocyte cultures.

– Orthosiphon: the extract is nitrogenous and diuretic. The excretion of sodium chloride and also of K+ ions and urea is increased. Some double-blind clinical studies against placebo have confirmed the activity on diuresis. In bioassays, orthosiphols A and B have been shown to be potent antiphlogistics and the methoxylated flavones have 5-lipoxygenase inhibitory properties.

Pharmacokinetic properties :
Lespedeza capitata: good resorption from the digestive tract. Hepatic and renal metabolism. Elimination mainly renal.
